Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly. Are you in a crunch for a date idea? Some couples prefer not to bother with restaurants and movies due to the tough time acquiring reservations on the busiest date day. Maybe you are trying to stick to a budget and would prefer a date at no cost. Luckily, the CSRA has quite a few spots that are perfect for a free date, including your very own home!
Enjoy an outdoor stroll and a picnic.
Our area has experienced some unexpected spring-like weather this February. This makes for a perfect outdoor date this Valentine’s Day. The Evans Town Center Park in Evans, Georgia is a great spot during the day and the evening. The park is well-lit and there are plenty of table areas and open green space for a picnic.
Another great spot for a walk and picnic is Savannah Rapids, also in Evans. There are multiple picnic areas and a walking trail that goes along the Augusta Canal. The views are beautiful and there is even a spot at the head gates for couples to place locks to “secure” their love. Memories are easily made during an outdoor date!
Browse through your favorite bookstore.
Book lovers could enjoy an evening looking at new reads. Okay – this date may not be completely free if you fall in love with a book or two, but it is still a fun time. Barnes & Noble located at the Augusta Mall is a perfect spot for this and they have an adjoining cafe as well for a quiet cup of coffee.
Indulge in a home-cooked meal.
Check out your local grocery store for deals on a nice steak and cook a delicious meal with your significant other for Valentine’s Day. Sometimes, a quiet night in is best. You can find a favorite movie or show to stream and have dessert in the backyard by candlelight, especially if the weather is clear that night.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be expensive to be memorable! Think outside of the box and be creative to stick with your budget.
