Spring is officially upon us! The weather is warming up and is accompanied by the not-so-welcomed “yellow snow”, or pollen. A new season always calls for a refresh and now is the perfect time to bring out all of your bright decor to match the mood. We’ve compiled a few tips to put some spring in your step with your cleaning routine.
Prepare a list ahead of time.
If you are planning a big refresh, it’s best to get a list together to have an organized view of the tasks at hand. Write down chores such as packing up winter clothes, organize shoes, and other related items so you can have a sense of accomplishment when they are checked off.
Dress the part.
You don’t want to be in your Sunday best to scrub floors and hose the pollen off your porch. Throw on some old sweats and a t-shirt that you won’t mind getting dirty if it happens!
Make a motivating playlist.
Wherever you stream music, put your favorite upbeat songs into a playlist. Having fun music will help motivate you and will pass the time a lot quicker.
Prepare for allergies.
If it’s been awhile since your last cleaning, you may run into excessive dust. Take allergy medicine before starting the day if needed and make sure the home is well-ventilated. Keep everything dusted regularly to avoid future sneeze attacks.
Before you begin cleaning, establish a break time in your schedule to avoid random breaks. Sitting down for a second could throw off all of your motivation. Don’t let your phone distract you either. If you want to keep it around to stream music, that’s great, but don’t sit down and scroll because that’s one of the best ways to lose all productivity.
Make it fun.
If it’s not realistic in your day-to-day schedule to get all of your spring cleaning done at once, don’t stress. Having a list to check off one bit at a time can be a big relief.
