The CSRA is well-known for being a big area with a small-town feel. While the city is booming with franchises and chain coffee shops, there are also plenty of hidden gems just around the corner from your neighborhood. We’ve gathered 5 of our favorites for you to try.

Buona Caffe Artisan Roasted Coffee

In the charming Summerville area off of Central Avenue, you’ll find Yelp’s top-rated coffee shop for Augusta. Buona Caffe was started in a home kitchen in 2010 and has quickly grown to one of the city’s best destinations for a hot cup of joe. Their catch phrase “Happily Caffeinated” can be seen on mugs and t-shirts around town and locals are proud to purchase from this small business. They have grown so much in popularity that they are now roasting coffee for the Georgia Governor’s Mansion! Buona is open Monday-Friday from 7:00a-7:00p and Saturday from 8:00a-5:00-p.

Bodega Ultima

This bold venture is brought to you by the groundbreaking founders of a local favorite restaurant, Takosushi. Bodega Ultima is inspired by the shops in New York City, wine cellars in Spain and cafes in Italy. The model is to enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the morning and come back in the evening for a cold beer or glass of wine. The eclectic menu ranges from cold-brew coffees to draft beers and local pimento cheese sandwiches. Try Bodega in the morning and stop back by for a happy hour after work! They are located on Highland Avenue in Surrey Center.

Inner Bean Cafe

Tucked away off of Davis Road in Martinez, the Inner Bean has been serving delicious coffee and desserts since 2006. This is a great hangout spot or a lunch stop during the busy work day. Try one of their delicious sandwiches and grab a slice of cake to enjoy later. Inner Bean also showcases local artists in the area so you can sip and look at beautiful pieces. Inner Bean is open Monday-Wednesday from 8:00a-3:00p and Thursday-Saturday from 8:00a-7:00p.

Ubora Coffee Roasters

Founded and run by veterans, Ubora is dedicated to serving others and improving lives. All coffee is roasted in-house for a truly fresh and crisp taste. What began as a traveling coffee truck opened as a full service cafe on Jones Street last fall and is quickly growing to be one of the area’s most popular hangouts. You can get a taste of Ubora Monday-Friday from 7:00a-6:00p, Saturday from 9:00a-5:00p and Sunday from 10:00a-3:00p.

Rooted Coffeehouse

Rooted Coffeehouse opened in early 2018 and has gained steady momentum ever since. It is nestled off of William Few Parkway in the Riverwood shopping center. Coffee is brewed in-house everyday and their food menu is always fresh. They offer seasonal menu items as well as popular staples that never go out of style like their rich Avocado Toast. The atmosphere in Rooted is centered around community, so they won’t get upset if your study group stays for hours getting work done and chatting over a delicious beverage or snack. Give Rooted a try Monday-Friday from 6:00a-6:00p and Saturday-Sunday from 8:00a-4:00p.
