A Show Ready House Cleaning Routine

The unfortunate thing about homes are that they don’t clean themselves. It takes time to keep things organized, especially if there are children in the family. Think about coming up with a few daily habits to minimize the stress of keeping the house clean.

Dedicate 20 Minutes Daily

Try focusing on one room at a time for 20 minutes. By the end of the week, you could have the whole house taken care of! Practicing this will make it easier to tackle cleaning projects and not feel so overwhelmed.

Start Laundry Before Work

When you wake up and make the journey to the kitchen for coffee, drag a hamper with you and toss a load in the washer. By the time you’re ready to walk out the door, the clothes are ready for the dryer. When you get home, there will just be folding left to do and you will feel more refreshed.

Deal with Mail When You Bring It In

Make an effort to minimize paper clutter and junk mail laying around by immediately sorting through it. It may even benefit you by sorting through it outside and tossing the junk directly in the trash or recycling bin.

Scan and Toss Paper

Thanks to smartphones, you don’t need to worry about a refrigerator and counter cluttered with invitations and lists. Take pictures of dates that need to be saved, special announcements and other important papers and recycle them after.

Make Your Bed Every Morning

Starting the day by tidying up will give you a much-needed boost to keep it up throughout the day. You will feel organized from the moment you wake up and want to continue completing tasks.

Spot-Clean Bathrooms Nightly

Mold and mildew can quickly accumulate in the bathroom if left unattended. Keep sanitizing wipes under bathroom cabinets for a quick wipe-down of counters and toilet seats. Lift tub mats to allow them to dry and prevent buildup that causes gunk.

Clean the Fridge Weekly

If there are leftovers in the fridge that have no hope of being eaten, toss them before your scheduled garbage pickup. Wipe the shelves down and enjoy a clearer view next time you look for a snack.

Empty the Dishwasher in the Morning

This will make you feel like a genius when that big homemade dinner the next night leaves a ton of dirty dishes. Making a habit to empty the dishwasher before the day starts will relieve stress and keep the sink clear after a meal.

Don’t let daily messes overwhelm you. By starting and keeping small habits like these, a big change will happen and it will be much easier to keep up with the home.
