Looking for some fun things to do this holiday season? Whether you are going solo, with friends or bringing the kids, there is no shortage of winter festivities in Columbia County. Here is a list of upcoming events:

Lights of the South, ongoing through December 30

One of Columbia County’s most visited spots during the holidays, Lights of the South is a beautiful Christmas treat for people of all ages. Take a hayride through the woods covered in numerous holiday displays complete with your favorite childhood characters. There is also a cottage for pictures with Santa, delicious hot cocoa, and a fire pit for roasting s’mores. Admission is $12 and kids 3 and under are free.

Evans on Ice, ongoing through January 6

We no longer have an ice skating rink in the Augusta area, but a portion of Evans Towne Center Park is transformed into a place for anyone to skate through the holiday season. There are also ticket options that include skating lessons for those who are interested in learning!

19th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, December 6

Head to Evans Towne Center Park on Friday, December 6 beginning at 4:00pm for a great night full of Christmas activities. The holiday market will take place from 4:00-8:00, with the tree lighting at 8:00. There will also be a special appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as ice skating.

Jingle Jam 10k, December 7

Bundle up and get ready for a run on December 7th, starting at the Columbia County Amphitheater at 8:00am. The Jingle Jam benefits SafeHomes of Augusta, a local organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for survivors of domestic violence and abuse as well as providing them with resources to live a better life.

Each runner will have jingle bells on their shoes during the race to spread holiday cheer through the area. Signup information can be found here.

Columbia County Christmas Parade, December 8

The annual Christmas parade will begin at 2:00pm on December 8th, starting at the intersection of Evans Town Center Drive and Evans to Locks Road. Local schools, businesses and more will be in the parade and there may even be a visit from Santa himself!

Chanukah Festival, December 22

Join Chabad of Augusta for a grand menorah lighting at 5:30pm on December 22. The event will take place at the Lady A Pavilion section of Evans Towne Center Park and will include fun activities for children and adults alike. Along with the menorah lighting, there will be hot latkes and apple cider, gifts for children, and arts and crafts.
