Last-Minute Summer Vacation

Summer vacations typically require a great deal of planning. You need to book a hotel, condo or rental home far in advance, purchase tickets to theme parks and create an itinerary to make the most of your trip. However, opportunities may arise to take a quick trip on a whim. Does this sound overwhelming? Don’t worry- here are a few ideas to plan the best summer vacation at the last minute.

Go All-Inclusive

All-inclusive resorts are a one-stop shop for trip planning. The property you stay on will have various activities to participate in for the whole family. There are typically dining plans included with booking, so that takes care of your meal worries.

Stay on a Tourist Strip

The most popular tourist strip that naturally comes to mind is Vegas- there are a ton of places to eat, shop, and play within walking distance from most hotels. However, there are plenty of other places to see around the country that also have these features. If you’re looking for easy travel from the CSRA, even a few days in Atlanta could be fun! Staying somewhere that has a lot of variety close by takes away the stress of planning travel to and from multiple places.

Check for Affordable Airline Prices

Some airlines will offer tickets at low prices if they still have room close to a flight date. Check booking sites frequently for special offers and if you come across one, snag your tickets right away!

Stay Local

If you want to go to a popular destination but want to avoid the tourist crowds that summer can bring, go where the locals go. Try renting a home from sites such as VRBO or AirBnB and look for cities just outside of the tourist hotspots. The people you rent from may even be able to provide great local places to eat or activities that won’t come with mile-long lines.

Chill on the Beach

If you’re just looking for a few days or a week to relax but didn’t plan anything in advance, look for beach houses or condos available to rent. Vacations don’t have to be full of sightseeing and activities- sometimes a true vacation is just doing nothing while the ocean breeze hits your face.

If you’re the type who normally needs to adhere to a strict schedule and plan months in advance, a little impulsivity could be a challenge. However, once you are on vacation, all of your worries will disappear for a few days and you can focus on making new memories with those you love.
