Do a thorough vacuuming job. Don’t just vacuum the areas you always vacuum, but move the furniture and vacuum the places that never get vacuumed. This will remove all the dust that has accumulated throughout the wintertime.

Vacuum the Vents

Air conditioning and heating vents get very dusty. Vacuum the vents to remove the dirts, dusts, pollens, and allergens that have accumulated during the winter months. This will not clean your vents, but also cut down on dust being circulated throughout your house.

Clean the Ceiling Fixtures

Ceiling fans are major dust collectors whether they are moving or sitting still. Now is the time to get them good and clean. Use an all purpose cleaner and wipe the blades and motor housing. This is a place that we use everyday and that we usually try to keep pretty tidy. Take this opportunity to get down and dirty. Get rid of all the junk that has accumulated in drawers and under cabinets that you are not using. Don’t hoard! If you haven’t used it and really probably won’t, throw it out. That goes for makeup, soaps, shampoos, hair accessories, and whatever else may have ended up in there.

Scrub-a-dub tubs and showers really good including shower doors. Replace old shower curtains with new ones. Wipe down mirrors and light fixtures, walls, and cabinets. Clean the toilet and wipe aroud the lid and the bottom of the toilet really well. Then sweep and mop to finish the job.

The laundry room can become a catch-all for things we just don’t know where to put. Take the time to remove clutter and organize shelves. Pull out, weep and mop underneath and behind the washer and dryer to get rid of dust and lint. You may be surprised what else you may find back there like those long lost socks. Speaking of which, now is the time to get rid of those single socks that you have been sure the mate would show up. Also wipe down the cabinets and the washer and dryer to remove dust and dirt.
